On the 23rd February I saw Jim Brooks give a Seminar at the Technology for Marketing and Advertising Exhibition at Earls court. Jim is an ex-creative director who has moved into mobile marketing consultancy and advises many large corporates on how they can cut through the noise of the mobile market place and in doing so look at how they can achieve success without alienating their customers and potential customers.

Below is a video of his semninar which you main find of interest. The videois courtesy of http://www.seminarstreams.com/ so if you are not registered to their site you will need to register in the window but once registered you will be able to access other videos we have posted from the event along eith others on their site.

Making money out of mobile technology should be of interest to all companies but it is also possible to develop a platform for mobile marketing which will deliver returns offline as well as online but remember the development of smart phones has opened up a whole new way of interacting with your customers and potential customers you just need to ensure that you communicate with them in a manner that engages them and does not feel like you are invading their private space.

Above all do not use this channel for unsolicted contact it will not be appreciated and will potentially damage your brand as much as the atomated never ending press button customer service lines do when you ring them.

On 18th January McDonald’s started a twitter campaign to promote the brand’s guarantee of fresh produce with the hashtags #MeetTheFarmers and #McDstories. The wholesomeness of the campaign’s intentions soon crashed and burnt as consumers started to supply their own #McDstories (and comments). Topics covered included the meat content, McDonald’s horror stories – such as fingernails [...]
