How the Frog evolved

I can’t speculate on how long the purple frog has existed without much research, visits and debate. I’m assuming millions of years. Our Purple Frog has been around since 1999 and has been evolving ever since – probably at a much faster rate than our amphibian friend.

The real purple frog is rarely seen but a while ago some clever Attenborough type managed to capture it on film. Our Purple Frog has been much more visible with various generations of illustrated logo since the business began. The 1999 version lasted until 2005 when it was replaced by a vast array of frog poses, angles and expressions. One was used for our logo, others on various pieces of self-promotion but many used for our website version at that time.

Our new site – a very different proposition to its predecessors – retains the cgi frogs and, whilst our core business offers and messaging have changed, we see no reason to lose them in the future.

So the Purple Frogs (real and brand image) remain safe, sound and free from threat. Good news for environmentalists, our fans and James, who designed them in the first place.

The wholesomeness of the campaign’s intentions soon crashed and burnt as consumers started to supply their own #McDstories (and comments). Topics covered included the meat content, McDonald’s horror stories – such as fingernails [...]
